It was a toss up between Disney's Doc McStuffins or Frozen for Naliya's 5th birthday. When she finally decided on going with her two girls, Elsa and Anna I knew I wanted to do something a little different. She's never had a sleepover, I wasn't ready for one and didn't think her friends would be either. You know the "I miss my mommy" and the "I want to go home" or the "I am scared". The next best option was a drop off pajama party!
Last weekend we celebrated my sister's birthday and the long awaited arrival of Spring with a "Spring Fling Party" if you will. In reality it was just a "girls day" with my best friends. Every so often we get together and lately I decorate, we cook collaboratively and do what ladies normally do when they hang out; eat, drink and g̶o̶s̶s̶i̶p̶ chit chat. Here is what we came up with this time...
Yesterday we honored Valentine's Day by celebrating Galentine's Day for the first time. "What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, Leslie Knope and her lady friends leave their husbands and their boyfriends at home and just kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus, frittatas"! -Parks and Recreation
Designed by myself and photographed by my bestie Vanessa Mota of Smart Little Cookie. This fun, feminine, themed gathering is perfect for celebrating love and friendship with your girls, single or not. My baby girl turned 3 this past January, she was really into Lalaloopsy Dolls so we went with that theme. There are many different dolls but since she was the Crumbs Sugar Cookie doll for Halloween, I based the party and decor around that specific doll. Many details went into this event look closely too see.
This post is sponsored by Dove® ClearTone™ Deodorant - designed to visibly reduce underarm dark marks and even skin tone. Special events have a special place in my heart. I guess that it could be because I have a creative spirit. Events like birthdays & weddings in particular allow for my creativity to run wild. However when it comes to your own special day everything takes a new twist. Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of planning my own big day but I have had the pleasure of being on the inside of a few very close relative’s wedding day preparations. Oh and I have seen one too many episodes of bridezillas and David Tutera’s my fair wedding. I just want to share what I would have in my “bridal survival kit”. Here would be a few essentials to help get through the special day: 1. “Day of the Wedding” Event Planner This pocket book planer with all of the wedding industry’s best kept planning secrets and methods in one little tool. It will fit right in your bridal bag. Which leads me to my second item for my kit, a… 2. A Bridal Bag You will be taking pictures left and right but will still need a lipstick or lip gloss, besides where are you supposed to carry everything from your kit? You do not want to carry anything to large but a cute bag to match your dress is a must. 3. Tide to Go Pen Too many drinks, lots of laughs and surprise you just spilled something on your dress. Keep this handy in your purse and you will be good to go! 4. Dove Clear Tone Antiperspirant Deodorant is a must! This particular one especially for me is awesome because it helps to not only keep you fresh, dry and protected but it also helps to even skin tone by reducing darks spots cause by shaving. It will moisturize and renew the skin under your arms if used daily on the weeks leading to your big day, you will feel confident all night in your strapless gown. I was compensated for this post by the Clever Girls Collective. All the opinions expressed here are my own.
With my daughters second birthday quickly approaching I wanted to take a moment and let you take a peek at what was her 1st birthday party.
